Information about DAY 1 take off location

We got unexpected burja wind, however the decision is:

Day one!

Today we had nice and demanding task up and down the Vipava valley. The conditions where somewhat stable, with strong bubbles rocketing through the inversion. 18 pilots completed 101,7 km long task - the fastest was Tom Weissenberger, only 8 seconds in front of Chirstian Chiech and followed by Davide Guiducci another half a minute behind. A lot of pilots got stuck at around 30 km, where they had to deal with tricky valley crossing. The only shade on the otherwise perfect day was landing missfortune of Monique - she is in hospital now with some broken bones - we all wish her quick recovery.

Registration - part one

The registration started as planed. A lot of pilots allready flew today. You might ask why "part one" in the title - there are still many pilots to come - they'll be here tomorow morning - on the first day of the competition. We can just hope that this will not make too much delay for the task. It was funny registration day - pilots who were here last year, or even in 2010, could not beleive: there was no roaring winds outside as they use to be! Just as reminder - on the registration day 2010 we had 200 km/h winds - but not this year! Wheather looks good till the end of the week.

Weather forcast is saying that we will fly at least 4 days. No burja on horizon!
By the way: don't forget to bring cable for your GPS/flight instrument!

THE RACE IS ON!

The decision has been accepted! Aeros Winter race 2012 will start on march 13th, with registration in competition office ("pizza place Anja" by the main landing place near Ajdovscina - see it on the Google maps) starting at 17:00 ending at 20:00 hours. Fingers crossed for the weather will stay as predicted.
