Aeros Winter Race 2012 wrap up

So... the Aeros Winter Race 2012 is finished. We had three tasks and the winner, Christian Ciech ITA, showed the best performace. We had more or less racing tasks showing the amazing average speeds, specialy on last task with 61 km/h by Tom Weissenberger AUT, who finished second overall. Christian Zehetmaier GER showed very constant performace on all three tasks, wich was enough to get on to the winners podium, on third place. Every day we got a lot of pilots in goal, 38 on the last day.
Now we can only say: see you next year!

3rd edition of Aeros Winter Race is finished

The competition has ended with three valid tasks, we will have the closing ceremony at 20 hrs.

Day 3, task 2 results

At first we set the 106 km long task along the Vipava valley. Later safety comittee decided that the tricky part of the task is not safe enough, so we set shorter, 86 km task. A lot of pilots made it so we had a lot of smiling faces on the goal field. All in all the decision of safety comittee was ok, only the fastest (the best) pilots where somewhat disapointet. However we are happy to have a nice and safe task and not to forget, regarding the fairly high level of thist competition, it is very good to get other then only top pilots in goal! Great day after all.

Task 2 cancelled

Well, not very good day today for Aeros Winter race. Unexpected burja hit as this morning, 78 km/h in the valley. We hoped that winds will died down at the afternoon, it does, but not enough to get the pilots in to the air. After the task was cancelled, at 15:30, only few pilots was able to get into the air, then back wind returned and the fun was over for the day. We hope that tomorow forcast wil hold for SW wind!
